Veer Narmad South Gujarat University or VNSGU Surat, settled at Udhana-Magdalla road in Surat is a semi-urban university. Launched under the South Gujarat University Act, 1965, it has been operating as a university from the year 1966. It discovered commendation of the University Grant Commission, UGC, in 1968. It had been recognized as South Gujarat University till 2004 when it was renamed as Veer Narmad South Gujarat University. National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC, has ennobled it as a B++ grade university. Jurisdiction of the university covers to the seven districts of Surat, Navasari, Valsad, Narmada, Dangs, Bharuch and Tapi and the Union Territory of Daman.
