Uranium Corporation of India Limited
The Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) was launched in 1967 as a public sector enterprise, under the administrative restrainer of the Department of Atomic Energy, with the objective of Mining and Processing of uranium ore to develop uranium concentrate. UCIL commenced its operations in 1968 at Jaduguda with uranium ore mining and a treating plant, each of 1,000 metric tonnes per day (MTPD) capacity. To meet the developing demand of uranium for nuclear power, UCIL has elaborated its activities both in mining and processing plants. The focussing has been on efficiency, cost effectiveness as well as on environmental safety. The new mine has been opened at Narwapahar.
