Tata Institute of Social Sciences was founded in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. Later in 1944 it acquired nominated as Tata Institute of Social Sciences. In 1964 it was allowed ‘deemed university’ position by Government of India. TISS renders several undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and short term programmes for various subjects of social work. Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) will take an admission process in 2011 for admission to its B.A. (Hons.) in Social Work program. B.A. (Hons.) in Social or MA / M.Sc programmes. After doing this program from TISS candidates may get possibilities to work with government as well as Non-Government administrations.

Eligibility for B.A. Hons in Social Work Eligibility:
Candidate must have passed 12th in any stream with 50% marks (40% for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) are eligible to apply. Selection will be made on written test the test aims to assess the knowledge of the candidate on contemporary issues in the field and sensitivity to social issues.
Eligibility for PG courses:
Candidate must have possess a Bachelor’s Degree of a minimum of 3 Years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 Years formal education) from a accredited university, in any subject.

Selection Procedure:
Eligible candidates need to first appear for a written test. Candidates will be shortlisted in the written test are than called for Personal Interview & General Discussion. Final selection will be based on the total marks scored by the candidate out of 200 marks. General candidates must get atleast score 45% and reserved categories atleast 35% to be considered for selection.

I would like to know whether the entrance forms for the year 2011 has been already issued or not ? Is there any diploma course for social work in TISS?
