Introduction
State Bank of Saurashtra (SBS) is one of the companions Banks of State Bank of India. The history of the institution of SBS can be retraced back to pre-independence period. Prior to 1948, the part of Saurashtra (a part of the present day Gujarat), comprised many small, medium and large deluxe states. The bigger states of Saurashtra admitted Bhavnagar, Rajkot and Porbandar, while Palitana and Vadia were its littler states. These states launched their own Darbar (palace). Out of the Darbars, the grayest one was Bhavnagar Darbar Bank, founded in 1902.
