Introduction
The Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram is an association of National Importance launched by an Act of the Indian Parliament. It is an independent Institute under the administrative activity of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The Institute indicates the intersection of medical sciences and technology and its assignment is to enable the autochthonal development of biomedical technology, besides establishing high standards of patient care in medical specialties and developing postgraduate training programs in advanced medical individualisms, biomedical engineering and technology, as well as in public health.
