SVNIT is among one of the 17 other Regional Engineering colleges in surat. Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology in Surat (SVNIT) was founded in the year 1961. It was set up as one of the Regional Engineering colleges, the Institute was later contributed the status of a National Institute of Technology as per the NIT Act. SVNIT came into universe as the result of joint venture between the Government of India and the State Government of Gujarat. The University has Post Graduate Centers committed to Civil Engineering, Applied Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering Departments. SVNIT has a capability to aspiration 426 students, plus, 20 additional seats reserved for foreign students under the Central Government scheme.
