The Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College engages a place of prominence amongst the educational capacities of Ramakrishna Mission in India. It was officially started on 21st June 1946. The college is currently providing eleven UG and seven PG and research programmes under assisted stream. The Day College, sovereign and associated to the University of Madras, provides courses of study in several disciplines leading to B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. / M.A. / M.Sc. / M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees. The college was granted sovereign status to all UG and PG courses up to M. Phil by the University Grants Commission in 2004-2005. Swami Ramakrishnananda, a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, founded in Chennai, a centre of the Ramakrishna Order in 1897. The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith is a significant branch of the Mission, dedicating itself to educational and research activity.
