QLTT 2011 Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test India

The Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test (QLTT) is a conversion test; it modifies lawyers who are skilled in certain jurisdictions outside England and Wales (and barristers of England and Wales) to specify as lawyers in England and Wales. Those lawyers desirable to sit the exam must be foreign lawyers or abroad lawyers qualified in jurisdictions that are recognised by the Law Society of England and Wales (The Law Society) or must be barristers qualified to practice in England and Wales.

Eligibility -
Before sitting the QLTT candidates should get a Certificate of Eligibility from The Law Society of England and Wales. This may take six to eight weeks to procedure. The certificate confirms which Heads must be cleared and any requirement for promote training. This will change according to the main jurisdiction of the applicant. Please contact The Law Society to get a certificate booking form and for more detailed information on the QLTT requirements and jurisdictional eligibility. A Certificate of Eligibility is not essential for the tuition or revision courses.

Exam Date Description
The test is taken 3 times a year from New Delhi and Mumbai in conjunction with Central Law Training (CLT), UK. The test is amply validated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), and supervised by the British Council, India.

Entrance Exam Date: first week of March 2011

QLTT Test Pattern –
Head I: Property Convincing Wills, Probate and Administration 3 hour written examination
Head II: Litigation Legal System, Civil Litigation, Criminal Litigation 3 hour written examination
Head III: Professional Accounts Financial Services 3 hour written examination
Conduct & Accounts
Head IV: Principles of Common Law Principles of Common Law Oral examination

Candidate may download an application form through the website. Please complete all the applicable sections of the form and return it to Professional Qualifications Division, Central Law Training LTD, Wrens Court, 52-54 Victoria Road, Sutton Coldfield, B72 1SX. Please remember to enclose a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility with your booking form.

    I have obtained the Eligibility Certificate from the Law Society. I now wish to write the exam as the validity of my eligibility certificate is dec 2011.

    I have the course material with me and have prepared for the exam. Please let me know if you can arrange / organize for my exam. Also would like to know your fee structure.

    I wish to appear for my exam in Mumbai.

    After passing QLTT exam immediately can we practice in EU?
    does USA has also the same eligibility exam QLTT?
    If i go for LLD after completion also if i wish to practice do i need to take QLTT exam?
