Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar was founded in January 1997 for advancement of Technical Education. PTU is accredited by University Grants Commission under section 2(f) of UGC act. All its colleges are sanctioned by AICTE, All India Council of Technical Education where as all its programs are sanctioned by Distance Education Council. The University has total intensity of more than 2.5 lakh students approximate. University has set up twelve territorial Centers for M-Tech courses and a school of Total Quality Management (TQM) at Mohali.
The University has below its association 288 Colleges providing Courses in Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Architecture, Hotel Management, Medical Lab Technologies & IT disciplines. Punjab Technical University has been organized to be the training reason for the future Engineers, Managers and Researches.
