PGI Chandigarh also recognized as Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) is one of the best medical colleges of India. PGI Chandigarh came into existence in 1962, as a result of the exertions of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab. In 1967, PGI Chandigarh became an independent body under the Act of Parliament and arrived under the control of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh is well weaponed with all the modern facilities, and extends education in a variety of disciplines at dissimilar degree levels. PGI Chandigarh is also a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
