The National Institute of Technology Agartala is one of the twenty National Level Technical Institutes established by the Govt. of India. The Institute’s aim is to assist to better the economic growth of the nation especially the North-East states and also the public systems, by recreation of excellence in technical education, research, consultancy and training. The Institute is situated on a beautiful site is four k.m off National Highway (NH-44) and about twenty K.M. away from the capital city Agartala. Agartala is related to the rest of the nation by road and rail-link via Silchar and Guwahati.
The Institute provides BE degree under Tripura University, however the Institute will be sovereign under NIT act which is already passed by the parliament. The Institute provides seven UG courses and one PG courses Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and the curriculum structure and examination system was at par with Bengal Engineering College. Industrial training, under taking projects is a part of the education system and students are also promoted to take diverse activities for social development by NSS and NCC.
