The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences is a multidisciplinary Institute for patient concern and academic recreation in the field area of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences. The Department of Psychiatry offers both inpatient and outpatient clinical services. Patients coming to NIMHANS for the first time are registered at the testing block in the Outpatient Department between 8.00 am and 11.30 am from Monday to Saturday. Patients referred by physicians get preference in the testing block. Patients will be measured by a General Medical Officer in the testing block to decide the quality of disease and will be referred to the proper department/ hospital. The Institute operates under the direction of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka. Several National and external financing administrations supply resources for research.

Sir,
i am from imphal and would like to ask you about a child psychiatry. The problem of the child is partial or focal seizures and he is 9 years old. As we are from very far off place and the case is refered to NImhans by our doctors we are planning to come by september last. can you please guide uus for the same.

Dear sir
I am from coimbatore, I know a patient having some disturbance in the mind she feels very frightened and not eating and sleeping well and for few minurtes or hours she feels asleep she will get up and tells that i am seeing people who are dead and she feels that some thing is going to happen to her and she will get frightened and talks with anxiety the whole night and dosent sleeps from the last six months it is continuing is there an treatment and any doctors who can help this out

I am from Bhopal.
I am sure you wont dissappoint me. My younger brother, aged forty, is living in his own world of imaginations. most of the time he projects himself as a very-very rich man. he claims that he owes many factories and other institutions. he goes to market and after he comes back, he says he had gone abroad in his own plane and weaves a long and stupid story. He had a degree in engineering and also did a business in partenership. his friend cheated him of money. After this he never did a job. As my father retired from a high rank, he is getting good pension. My father owns a house too. This made him more lethargic. Now , as my parents are getting older and sick they need more attention he is torturing them. Also he is not ready to go to any counsellor. Is there any way to bring him to rehab center forcefully? I am ready to pay the fees whatever amount it is. He speaks a lot, sometimes to himself only. One more thing he collects the scrap and does not allow anyone to touch it. There many other things he does. He is unmarried. In a good mood he taiks nIcely and sensibly. May i get some help?The only thing we want is his recovrey. But, he is not ready, as I told you and wont listen to us. The only thing I wish to know is, ‘Is there a way to take him to a rehab center?’ As he is not ready to come.
