National Institute of Fashion Technology was founded in 1986 by the assistance of Ministry of textiles, Government of India. It is an extremely aspired institute for students who want to go in the area of fashion technology, marketing and research. This institute is the most renowned fashion designing institute of India which renders all kinds of higher education in areas of fashion design. It offers all sorts of generalized facilities like modern infrastructure and well managed campus. National Institute of Fashion Technology is a prime institute for design management and technology and takes an entrance exam to give possibilities to the different aspirants who are concerned in fashion designing courses. Every year candidates from several parts of India appear for NIFT to get admission in its bachelor and master design programs. National Institute of Fashion Technology is inviting application for its new academic session 2011-2012 for UG and PG degree, other related details are given below:-

Bachelor of Design (B.Des) in following fields:

Knitwear Design
Apparel Production
Fashion Design

B.F.Tech(Apparel Production)
Master Programmes:
M.Des. (Master of Design)
M.F.M. (Master of Fashion Management)
M.FTech. (Master of Fashion Technology)
Eligibility for Bachelor Programme – Design
The +2 level exams from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination or in foreign countries accredited by the Association of Indian Universities or A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination took by the National Open School with a minimum of 5 subjects.
Eligibility for Bachelor Programme – Technology
The Higher secondary level examination of any accredited Central/State Board of Secondary Examination or in foreign nations accredited by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system or a pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination took by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
Eligibility for Master Programme – Management
Candidate having 3 years Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any field accredited by the Association of Indian Universities or Diploma in Accessory / Fashion Design / FIT from NIFT only will be eligible for this programme. For foreign Bachelor’s Degree, Recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, proper certification by a National Body constituted in the country concerned for granting equivalence will have to be produced.
Eligibility for Master Programme – Technology
B.E. / B.Tech (Textiles / Apparel / Mechanical / Industrial / Production / Electronics / Computer / Information Technology)
Availability of forms for NIFT 2011
NIFT forms are required to be available by November end at the selected Axis bank Branches. NIFT form may also be got by sending a request for the form along with a Demand Draft in favour of NIFT, New Delhi to any of the NIFT centres.
Admission process:
Candidates will be shortlisted on the base of the written examination. After that shortlisted candidates will be called for Situation Tests, Interview and General Discussions. Written test will be on the basis of the programme a candidate has applied for. Written test is meant to test the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates for the programme they have applied.
NIFT Admit cards
The admit cards for provisionally eligible candidates will be sent off by 1st week of February 2011. In case of non-receipt of Admit Cards by mid of February 2011, the candidates may download the Admit Card from the NIFT website.

I am an IB Diploma student studing in Grade 12 in Oman. I take Art HL as one of my subjects. Can a portfolio be submitted? Or is the entrance exam compulsory?

I am a student of class 12, and will be giving the entrance examination for NIFT in Feburary 2011. I wanted to know if a portfolio is required as part of the admission procedure. If it isn’t a necessary prerequisite, is it recommended that I prepare one for the entrance?

i am a science student so i also have me engineering exams in April nd may so can you tell me whether my situation test dates do not coincide with any of the major engineering exams dates
