North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) Shillong (Meghalaya) was founded in 1987, in accordance with the Meghalaya Registration of Societies Act 1983. The college features of being third educational institution in India founded by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. NEIGRIHMS Shillong holds the distinction of being the first and the only medical college that provides postgraduate courses, in the whole northeastern part of India. In the year 2000, North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences or NEIGRIHMS Shillong was announced as a National institute. Presently, all the functions of the institute have been managed by the PMO. The college is spread across 306 acres of land. It has been recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.

Eligibility
Candidates looking for admission to the B.Sc. Nursing degree course (basic) should have passed the senior school certificate examination/Higher secondary examination/Indian school certificate examination which is equivalent to 10+2 examination after a period of twelve (12) years of study.

Curriculum: The Curriculum and the Syllabus for the course shall be as dictated by the standing curriculum committee of NEHU, based on the Syllabus prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council.
Age Proof: High School certificate/secondary school certificate/admit card of 10th or 10+2 exam issued by the Board/University showing the date of birth/Birth certificate of the applicant issued by competent government authority.
