NCERT NTSE 2011 National Talent Search Entrance Exam
National Talent Search Scheme is a main activity of the NCERT began in the year 1963. The aim of the scheme was to discover talented students and raise their expertness. Talent mentions to the capability that manifests itself in a high level of performance in one or more specialized fields. The scheme, therefore, covers fields like Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law. The NCERT will be conducted the National Talent Search Examination for students examining in class VIII only.
Eligibility:
Students of Class VIII studying in accredited schools are eligible to appear for the respective Class VIII Stage I examination carried by the States/UTs in which the schools are located.
NTSE Application Form:
Candidate may contact the State/UT Liaison officer for obtaining application form. However, application form may be downloaded from NCERT website also. All correspondence linking to application forms must be addressed to the State Liaison Officers (LOs) whose addresses are given at the end/Website. The completed application form duly signed by Principal of the school should be submitted to the LO/ concerned district official of the State before the last date.
The pattern of written examination
Stage I examination will comprise 2 parts,
(a) Mental Ability Test (MAT)
(b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics.
Stage II examination at the National level will comprise
(a) Mental Ability Test (MAT),
(b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics,
(c) Interview.
Scholarships:
One Thousand scholarships will be awarded for each group of students appearing for class-VIII examination on the basis of the examination conducts. The amount of scholarship will be Rs 500/- per month as per NTS rules.
Reservation:
15% scholarships will be reserved for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% scholarships for the ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged group of students.
Selection: There will be 2-stage selection procedure for grant of scholarship. For Stage-I, selection will be made by states/UTs by a written test. Students who qualify Stage I will be eligible to appear for Stage II examination took by NCERT.
NTSE 2011 Important Dates:
Last date for submission of application form: End of August, 2010
Examination in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andaman and Nicobar Islands:
Mid of November, 2010
Examination in all other states and UTs: last week of November2010
Stage II (National)
Examination in all states and UTs: first week of May, 2011
