Introduction
The National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organization were set up in 1956. National Atlas & Thematic Mapping Organisation who first broached to plan of compiling a National Atlas of India in Hindi – the Raj Bhasa. Professor S P Chatterjee enlisted the plan for the foundation of the administration and in April 1954 it took shape. Since then this administration grew in strength in the successive plan calamines and took up various projects of great national importance.
