Introduction
National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, launched by the Government of India as a Regional Engineering College, is one of the top science, technology and engineering colleges in India. REC Srinagar was one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges launched during the first Five Year Plan. National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar extends B Tech, MTech, M Phil and PhD programmes in several areas of engineering. NIT Srinagar was earlier related to the University of Kashmir and later the central government improved REC Srinagar to the category of National Institute of Technology and it was granted the status of Deemed University.
