Introduction
National Institute of Technology at Jamshedpur which was born as Regional Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, was founded by the Government of India and the Government of Bihar as a joint guess in 1960 with the aim to generate technical graduates of highest standards who could provide technological leadership to the region.
The National Institute of technology, Jamshedpur, Registered below the Societies Act, is an independent legal organization operating as a Deemed University, administered centrally along with other NITs by the NITs’ Council, an apex body founded by the Government of India.
These are statutory committees founded below the MOA of the Institute and function under the BOG. There are three Senate Sub-Committees, namely, Post Graduate Program Evaluation Committee, Under Graduate Program Evaluation Committee to help academic administration of the Institute, Library Committee to help in Library Administration and Planning and Technology Students’ Gymkhana to look after the Student Activities and their welfare Now Jamshedpur serves as the NIT for the state of Jharkhand while NIT Patna acts as the NIT for Bihar.
