Institute was based on November 1, 1960 under the ‘Open Door’ policy of the authorities of India, by the Maharaja Jiwajirao Education Society, Vidisha with a contribution from the Gangajali Trust Fund of the Scindias, formerly rulers of the Gwalior state and allegiance of non-recurring and recurring grants from the authorities of India and the authorities of Madhya Pradesh in agreed proportions
