Nalanda Open University is the only university of its type in the state of Bihar, Established in March 1987, and NOU came into being by an regulation passed by the authorities of Bihar. The institute has been named after the renowned Nalanda University of antediluvian India. NOU is the first of its kind university in the state Bihar that came up with the program of extending education alone done the system of distance education. Administrative occasions are carried on from the University campus office in Biscomaun Bhawan at Patna.
