Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU) based on July 23, 1987, and was a into known as Kota Open University. Kota is a pioneer center for open education in Rajasthan. The university central office is located at Kota and its functional jurisdiction extends to the whole of Rajasthan. Vardhman Mahaveer Open University has been discerned by the University Grant Commission, UGC and Distance Education Council, DEC. It works in the entire state of Rajasthan as an instrument of democratizing education and to expand chances for higher education.
