The Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala was established on 4th September 1957. The Department is operating under the Higher Education Department, Govt. of Kerala. The Technical Education Department aims for making available these prepared technically qualified hands to serve the industry and society. Kerala Board of Technical Education system is thus made flexible enough to accommodate to rapid change. In the state, the Department of Technical Education plays a major role in the Technical Education sector. Kerala Board of Technical Education provides courses and programmes in engineering, hotel management, town technology, architecture, management, pharmacy and applied arts & crafts, planning, catering technology and others.
