IGNTU is the National Tribal University founded by the government and providing various vocational courses at undergraduate and post graduate level. The Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak has been founded by an Act of the Parliament of India. It came into world by the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Act, 2007 and came into activity with the assignment of Prof. C. D. Singh as its first Vice-Chancellor on July 8th, 2008. The legal power of the University covers to the whole nation and it is fully furnished by the Central Government through the University Grant Commission. The university provides to the tribals’ long precious dream of higher education. Its objective is to render approaches of education, particularly higher education and research services mainly for the tribal population of India.
