Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is one of the premier institutes established by the Government of India in 1959. The Institute is ideally located on GT Road at Kalyanpur, about 16 km west of Kanpur city, in a sprawling campus, spread over an area of 420 hectares. The campus is home to about 1850 undergraduate and 1800 postgraduate students, 320 faculty members and more than 1500 supporting staff.
