The Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Chennai was founded in 1963 jointly supported by the Government of Tamilnadu and the Govt. of India at national Level as one of the innovator Institutes in India for imparting quality directing in 3 Year Diploma Course in Hotel Management and Catering Technology and also in several allied Craft Certificate Courses of 6 months duration. The Govt. of Tamil Nadu was nearly affiliated with the institute since its origin.
The Institute is planned to educate candidates at supervisory, managerial and lower skill levels in the principles and practices of Financial Management, Tourism and Travel Management, Nutrition, Dietetics and Hospital Food Service and related crafts.
Its diploma holders are employed at home and abroad in management operations, consultancy, research and invention for a variety of organizations.
