IBSD IMPHAL
A lovely town on the banks of River Manipur, Imphal is surrounded on almost all side by picturesque hills. IMPHAL beauty attracted many since it was first laid. Unfortunately, Imphal attracted some goriest battles in world history too. The most unique thing in Imphal however remains the Khwairamband Market, a market run only by women. The Manipur State Museum is also an important place to visit in Imphal and has a rich collection of Manipuri costumes, war items and ancient relics.
The inclusion of the North East Region in the list of Mega-biodiversity hotspots of the world caused an ever increased fillip to the researchers, resource planners, environmental enthusiasts and the local think- tanks about stopping depletion of biodiversity in the region and finding scientific ways of sustainable uses of bioresearches.
The situation is bad enough to warn us that before we can fully understand, assess and plan a sustainable use of the Bioresearches in the North Eastern Region, its habitat exposed to the world as a mega-biodiversity hot-spot is likely to be destroyed in no time Bio-industrialists and traders exploit the ignorance and poverty of the tribal population in hunting and illegal trading of the wild flora and fauna of the region.

Genome Club Inauguration
The Genome Club of The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, Imphal was formally inaugurated by Prof. I. S. Khaidem, former Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University at a function attended by many scientists and distinguished invitees from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Manipur University, Central Agricultural University, colleges and other institutions. This friendly forum will bring together all interested persons to know/ share/ debate about the biotechnological research and developments.
