HNL is the most prominent airport in the State of Hawaii and is situated in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. Interisland, Mainland and International carriers serve HNL daily. Honolulu International Airport (IATA: HNL, ICAO: PHNL, FAA LID: HNL) is the principal air power gateway of the City & region of Honolulu and the State of Hawaii and is named as one of the busiest airports in the United States, with traffic now exceeding 21 million passengers a year and rising. It is situated in the Honolulu census-assigned place three miles (5 km) northwest of Oahu’s central business district. Main roads contributing to the airport are Nimitz Highway and the Queen Liliuokalani Freeway of Interstate H-1.
It is also the base for Aloha Air Cargo, which antecedently provided both passenger and cargo services.
