Gujarat Secondary & Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) was appointed in 1972, following the act of the Gujarat Secondary Education Act 1972. Its Chairman and Deputy Chairman are appointive by the State authorities. It has 16 Ex-Officio Members, and 44 other members drawn from academician systems, legislation bodies and civil society. Various commissions with particular obligations occasion under the Board.
