Introduction
GceSalem.net, thanks to Yahoo Domain’s generous 5$/yr offering it’s in the process of impressing the page over AND get this, starting our own GCE Discussion Forum. Two reasons for this. Firstly, it’s been almost 6 years since we did anything of substance for the page. Sad, really! Secondly, a forum is pretty easy to maintain and this way, the page kind of updates itself with active participation. We are still in the middle of coming up with a decent template for the main page So while we are at it, why don’t some of you guys take the Forum for a test drive? Our Beta Testers, if you will. If you think it looks fine as is, then go ahead and start using it. Else, use the “Suggestions” Category to post your feedback.
GCE-Salem was started during the Third Plan period in the year 1966 and is located on a lovely site beleaguered by hills. Its area is 1.62 km². This was then the third Government Engineering introduction in Tamil Nadu. The first batch of students was selected for the academic year 1966-67 for courses in civil engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. In the year 1973-74, the metallurgical engineering branch was started. The electronics engineering and communication engineering branch was introduced in the year 1985-86.Computer science and engineering was started in the year 2001.The college has an increase in placement opportunity and is beating its own placement records every year.
