Forest research Institute University was founded under the UGC Act 1956 and is sanctioned by Government of India. The institute was elevated to the level of deemed university in the year 1991 by government of India. Institute provides the admissions into this University on the base of entrance examination. MSc Forestry (38 Seats)
Eligibility: 3 Years Bachelor’s degree in science with at least one of the subjects namely Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry.

M.Sc. Wood Science & Technology (38 Seats)
Eligibility: 3 Years Bachelor’s degree with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or B.Sc. degree in Forestry.

M.Sc. Environment Management (38 Seats)
Eligibility: 3 Years Bachelor’s degree in any branch of basic or applied Sciences or Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or Agriculture or BE / B.Tech in Environment Science.

Post Masters Diploma in Natural Resource Management (24 Seats)
(1 Year duration) Eligibility: M.Sc. in any discipline.

Post Graduate Diploma in Non Wood Forest Product (PGDNWFP)
Eligibility: M.Sc. in Botany, Zoology, Forestry, Chemistry

Reservation:
SC candidates: 15%
ST candidates: 7.5%
Handicapped: 1 seat in two courses
ICFRE employee: 5 seats in each Environment management and PMD Natural Resource Management courses only.

Application process
Information Bulletin and FRI University application form may be got by post by submitting a Bank Draft payable at Dehradun in favour of “Registrar, FRI University, P.O.I.P.E., Kaulagarh Road Dehradun”. FRI University Application Forms will also get from the counter of the Union Bank of India (FRI Branch, Dehradun). A candidate who wants to apply for 2 or more courses has to fill up separate form for each course.
