The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University is a law school in Chennai, India.
The Law University was founded by the Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of State Legislature. It was opened by His Excellency Thiru K.R. Narayanan, President of India on September 20th 1997. The Law University holds examinations and confers degree, titles, diplomas and other academician qualities on individuals who shall have engaged an sanctioned course of study in the University, University College or any college associated or deemed to be associated to the University.
Its objective is to render accession to legal education for big segment of the population and in special to the disadvantage groups such as those living in remote and rural fields. The university has few associated colleges disseminate all over the state; the colleges are providing degree and diploma programs in Law. The Distance Education Department of the varsity provides courses in Law via distance mode.
