The Indian Statistical Institute Bangalore (ISI Bangalore) was considered by Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis during 1960s, even when the city was emerging as a centre of science. Indian statistical institute is a testimonial to his foresight that the Institute is now well-established in one of the most scientific communities in Asia. Indian Statistical Institute, as stated in its Memorandum of Association to promote the study and spreading of knowledge of Statistics, to develop statistical theory and methods. Indian Statistical Institute is one of the oldest institutions focused on Statistics.
