CSIR JRF 2011 Council of Scientific and Industrial Research
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will take a national-level joint CSIR-UGC Test in 2011 (NET 2011) for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and for the eligibility of Lectureship in Science subjects. Notification of the exam date and other details appears in the Employment News about 4 months before the examination. This test is usually held 2 times in a year (June and December). State Level Eligibility Tests (SLET) is also taken by the respective states with almost the same syllabus.
Academic Eligibility
A minimum aggregate of 55% (50% for SC/ST candidates) in the Master’s Degree in the following or related subjects:- Chemical Science, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean & Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences.
Age Limit for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): The upper age limit is 28 years as on July / January for the December / June exams severally of the year of examination. This limit is relaxed up to 5 years in the case of SC/ST/OBC/physically handicapped and female applicants.
Age Limit for Lectureship (LS): Even candidates above 28 years can attempt NET for Lectureship only, as there is no upper age limit.
Scheme of the Examination
Paper I: An objective-type test of duration 2 hours and 15 minutes, in 2 sections, A and B. All the questions are mandatory with the cut-off mark in Paper I determinative whether Paper II is to be evaluated or not. Negative marks are allotted to wrong answers in this paper where a maximum of 200 marks can be scored.

The notification will be published in Employment News and contributing newspapers. Candidates may apply in the application format given in the advertisement in accordance with the rules referred. The examination fee should be paid in the form of a crossed Demand Draft in F/O Finance & Accounts Officer, EMR CSIR Complex New Delhi.
