Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd secured the higher up orders from private power utilities in fiscal 2009-10. Out of the total contracts of 16,489 Mega Walt for power plant equipment received by BHEL during the year, the orders from independent power producers alone accounted for 14,689 Mega Walt . This formed nearly 90 per cent of the total orders booked by the company power division. In financial terms, the orders amount to Rs 33,787 crore—more than threefold increase over the previous year.
Capacity Expansion
1. Established capacity of 15,000 mw of power equipment per annum and further augmentation to 20,000 mw per annum by March 2012.
2. State-of-the-art manufacturing facilities established for supercritical equipment.
3. Contemporary manufacturing plant set up for high-rating transformers.
4. 31 new cranes procured to increase erection capability at various sites.
