BHEL was formed in 1976, mainly to establish a strong base in the areas of power and industrial electronics and supplement the company’s opening up attempts in power generation, transmission system, and industry and Department of Transportation sectors. Making a modest beginning in 1976, the unit has recorded uninterrupted and telling growth, which is amply contemplated in the fact that a large number of power plants in the country today, are fitted out with productions and systems made by BHEL-EDN.
